Biltmore Hotel Wedding Photographer: Coral Gables Venue Guide & Photo Spots

If you're looking for a Biltmore Hotel wedding photographer, you're in the right place. The Biltmore in Coral Gables is one of my favorite venues in Miami, and I've photographed weddings and engagement sessions all over the property, from Pat & Tori's ballroom wedding to Cat & Tony's colorful courtyard ceremony.

As a Miami wedding photographer, the Biltmore in Coral Gables is one of the venues I photograph most, and this guide is everything I've learned there.

This guide covers everything I'd want a couple to know before their Biltmore Hotel wedding: a little history, my favorite photo spots, tips for your timeline and real weddings so you can see what your day could look like.

About the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables

The Biltmore Hotel opened in 1926 and was designed by the architects Schultze and Weaver. Its famous tower was inspired by the Giralda in Seville, Spain, and today the hotel is a National Historic Landmark. Between the Mediterranean-style architecture, hand-painted ceilings, tiled loggias and palm-lined lawns, there's a backdrop around every corner.

The Best Wedding Photo Spots at the Biltmore Hotel

1. The Loggia and Green Staircase

The green-tiled loggia is the spot most couples ask me about, and for good reason. The arches, columns and that green staircase give you soft, shaded light even at midday. It's my favorite place for first looks, bridal portraits and showing off a long cathedral train.

2. The Courtyard and Colonnade

The central courtyard, framed by arches and palms with the tower above, is iconic. It's a beautiful setting for an outdoor ceremony, and the colonnade around it is perfect for candid walking photos.

3. The Grand Staircases and Lobby

Inside, the hotel's staircases, chandeliers, gilded mirrors and candelabras create a timeless, old-Hollywood feel. These spots are great for editorial portraits and for getting a few photos in if the weather turns.

4. The Ballroom

For an indoor ceremony or reception, the ballroom delivers with crystal chandeliers, tall windows and arches. It's elegant, it photographs beautifully and it's climate controlled, which your guests will appreciate in July.

5. The Lawn and Tower at Sunset

Right before sunset I take couples out to the lawn and outdoor staircases for golden hour portraits with the Biltmore tower behind them. If there's one part of the day I'd tell every Biltmore couple to protect on their timeline, it's this.

6. The Candlelit Reception

Once the sun goes down, candlelight and the ballroom glow take over. Tall candelabras, long tables and a monogrammed dance floor make for some of the most romantic reception photos I've taken.

7. The Hotel Bar and Hallways

For engagement sessions, the wood-paneled bar and quiet hallways are perfect for a moody, editorial look that feels completely different from the bright loggia.

Tips for Your Biltmore Hotel Wedding Photos

  • Do a first look in the loggia. It's shaded and private, and it gets your couple and wedding party portraits done before the ceremony.

  • Build in walking time. The property is big. I add a few minutes between locations so you never feel rushed.

  • Protect golden hour. Plan 15 to 20 minutes around sunset for portraits on the lawn with the tower.

  • Have a rain plan. Miami weather changes fast. The ballroom, lobby and staircases mean we can still get beautiful photos indoors.

  • Consider a Biltmore engagement session. It's a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera at your venue before the wedding day.

  • Work with a planner who knows the venue. Cat & Tony's wedding was planned by Leiton & Co, and having a team that knows the hotel makes the whole day flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Biltmore Hotel?

The Biltmore Hotel is at 1200 Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables, Florida, just a few minutes from Coral Gables' Miracle Mile and about 20 minutes from downtown Miami.

Where can you have a wedding ceremony at the Biltmore Hotel?

I've photographed ceremonies both outdoors in the courtyard beneath the Biltmore tower and indoors in the ballroom under crystal chandeliers. The ballroom also makes a great backup if Miami weather doesn't cooperate.

What is the best time for photos at the Biltmore Hotel?

Golden hour, roughly the last hour before sunset, is my favorite for portraits on the lawn with the tower behind you. The covered loggia and courtyard arches give soft, even light earlier in the day, which makes them perfect for a first look.

Can you do an engagement session at the Biltmore Hotel?

Yes. I've photographed several Biltmore engagement sessions in the lobby, loggia, staircases and hotel bar. Photography rules for sessions can change, so always check with the hotel before you plan your shoot.

How many hours of wedding photography do I need at the Biltmore?

For a full Biltmore wedding I recommend at least 8 hours of coverage, so there's time for getting ready, a first look in the loggia, the ceremony, golden hour on the lawn and the reception.

How much does a Biltmore Hotel wedding photographer cost?

My wedding collections start at $6,900. Send me your date and details and I'll share the collection that fits your day.
