Looking for the best Miami engagement photo locations? As a Miami wedding and engagement photographer, I've photographed couples all over South Florida, and these are the spots I recommend most. Each one has a completely different feel, from old-world elegance to neon nights in Little Havana.
As a Miami wedding photographer, I've photographed engagement sessions all over the city. These are the locations I recommend most to my couples.
Below you'll find my favorite locations, real sessions from each one, and tips on permits, timing and what to wear.

1. The Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables
Candlelit lobbies, grand staircases, tiled loggias and a wood-paneled bar make the Biltmore one of the most elegant places for engagement photos in Miami. See Rachel & Kenny's Biltmore session and Kat & Rodrigo's, plus my full Biltmore Hotel guide.

2. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
Italian Renaissance-style gardens, stone arches and views of Biscayne Bay. Vizcaya is one of the most romantic spots in Miami, and it requires a portrait permit booked in advance. See Victoria & Leo's Vizcaya session and my Vizcaya engagement photo guide.

3. Little Havana and Ball & Chain
For color, culture and a little nightlife, nothing beats Calle Ocho. Ball & Chain, at 1513 SW 8th Street, first opened in 1935, and its neon sign is perfect after dark. Bars are private businesses, so we always ask before shooting inside. See Cat & Gabe's Little Havana session.

4. Downtown Miami Bars and Rooftops
Downtown gives you skyline views, moody bars and rooftops that glow at sunset. It's great for couples who want an editorial, city feel. See Aileen & Brian's vintage-inspired session and Marie & Martin's rooftop anniversary shoot.

5. Palm Trees, the Bay and a Vintage Car
Nothing says Miami like palm trees, blue water and a classic convertible. Add an editorial hotel stop and you get two completely different looks in one session. See Jessica & Matan's session and Sabrina & Agustin's vintage car session.

6. Key Largo and the Florida Keys
If you love the water, a boat or dock session in the Keys is unforgettable, with turquoise water and huge sunsets. It's about an hour and a half south of Miami. See Natasha & Chris's Key Largo boat session.

Tips for Your Miami Engagement Photos
Book golden hour. The last hour before sunset is the most flattering light in Miami.
Plan for permits. Spots like Vizcaya need a permit booked ahead, and hotels and bars need permission. I'll help you sort it out.
Bring two looks. One dressy and one relaxed gives your gallery variety.
Think about traffic. Pick locations close to each other so you spend your time in front of the camera, not in the car.
Have a rain backup. Indoor spots like the Biltmore or a hotel lobby save the day when a summer storm rolls in.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best places for engagement photos in Miami?
My favorites are the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Little Havana and Calle Ocho, downtown Miami rooftops and bars, the palm-lined waterfront with a vintage car, and the Florida Keys for something on the water.
Do I need a permit for engagement photos in Miami?
It depends on the location. Vizcaya requires a portrait permit booked online. The City of Miami and Miami Beach have their own rules for professional photography, and private spots like hotels and bars need permission from the owner. I check the current rules for every location and help you book anything we need.
What is the best time of day for engagement photos in Miami?
Golden hour, roughly the last hour before sunset, gives the softest, most flattering light. Sunrise is great for beaches and the Keys if you want fewer people around, and nighttime is perfect for neon signs and flash portraits in Little Havana or downtown.
Can we do more than one location?
Yes. Pairing nearby spots works really well, like Little Havana and downtown, or the Biltmore and Vizcaya. You get variety without spending your whole session in traffic.
What should we wear for our Miami engagement session?
I usually recommend two looks: one elevated or formal outfit and one more relaxed. Think about your location too. A gown fits the Biltmore or Vizcaya, while something fun and colorful fits Little Havana.
